TEXARKANA, Tex. -

UPDATE: Texarkana, Texas Police say that three men have been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened on Thursday, December 26.

Police were called to the 2200 block of West 16th Street for a possible shooting. When officers arrived, they didn't find a victim or suspect but instead received a call from a local hospital where one person was being treated for a gunshot wound and another for assault-type injuries. All injuries are believed to be non life-threatening.

After receiving more information about the shooting, investigators determined that Jerry Houff, 48 of Texarkana, Texas reportedly entered the residence of his former mother-in-law without her permission to speak to his ex-wife while armed with a .38 cal. pistol. When Houff got inside the house, he was confronted by Vincent Edmond, 45 of Mesquite, Texas who disarmed Houff. The two then struggled while exiting the residence. Once outside, Edmond gave the pistol to Houff's son, Jeremy Heard, 22 of Dallas, Texas. Heard then attempted to intervene by firing a single shot from the pistol in the direction of Edmond but Edmond wasn't struck by the bullet.

Edmond then pulled out a handgun of his own, a 9mm pistol and shot at Heard, striking him two times in his upper body. Houff and Heard left the scene and went to an area hospital. Edmond met officers at the Bi-State Justice Center.

All three men were arrested and charged as follows:

Jerry Houff - charged with burglary of a habitation. His bond is set at $50,000.

Jeremy Heard - charged with deadly conduct. His bond is set at $50,000.

Vincent Edmond - charged with aggravated assault. His bond is set at $50,000.

All three men were booked into the Bi-State Justice Center. No other arrests are expected.

Shortly after 5:00pm this evening, officers from the Texarkana, Texas Police Department were called to the 2200 block of W. 16th Street in reference to a possible shooting.   Officers discovered the location of the incident, but no victim or suspect.  Within minutes of their arrival, officers were called to a local hospital, where one person was being treated for a gunshot wound and another for assault-type injuries.  A second call sent officers to the Bi-State Justice Center to speak with a third man about the same incident.   All injuries sustained during this incident are non-life threatening in nature. Since it is early in the investigation, no names or possible charges related to this incident are available.  More information will be released as it becomes available.
