Griffin's Good Life: 2013 Wrap

Posted: Updated:

During 2013 Griffin's Arklatex was centered around those persons often past retirement age, but still active and getting enjoyment out of life.

One of those truly special moments was captured in a story on Bobby Primm. When it comes to one of his appearances at a nursing or retirement home.

It's a toss up who enjoys it the most… the audience…or Bobby.

"The couple sitting in front of me they sing along with the songs I do. I see them smiling and she'll reach over an touch his hand. I realize the love they have for each other," he said "and the music I play I try to bring them back to years when they were young."

People like 77 year old dentist, Dr. Bo Worley, who for over 45 years annually goes a mission trip to the Mexican Indian Training Center in Cordoba to provide much needed free dental care.

"And it touched my heart as far as how poor the people were and how happy they seem to be in spite of their financial state," Worley said

Doing for others is a big part of leading the good life and as 70 year old Jerry Hanszen.

"It makes your heart feel good. Anytime you're actively involved to help somebody do something, that opens your heart up and just makes you have that special feeling."

And it was 81 year old Wayne Roberts who had this advice to those leading the good life.

"Stay busy, stay at it, do things you want to do...age don't have a thing in the world to do with it."

2013 was a good year when it came to telling you about folks leading the good life.

And we're looking forward to more of the same in 2014.
