Jennings ready to walk in to spotlight

Posted: Updated:
Tampa, FL -

LSU freshman quarterback Anthony Jennings was spectacular when called upon after Zach Mettenberger was hurt against Arkansas.  Now many are curious to see how he performs after knowing the job is his and taking all the first team snaps in practice.

LSU head coach Les Miles says all he has asked Jennings to do is focus on his drills and not worry about the big picture.  At the same time, Miles also made it clear his team has had no intention of changing things dramatically just because it has a new quarterback.  The players have been working in a specific offense all season and the Tigers have continued to practice that offense.

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said he wished that Jennings only has three days to prepare instead of three weeks, but he had no say in that and knows the extra time will likely only help Jennings.  Miles echoes that adding, he also expects players such as Odell Beckham, Jr and Jarvis Landry, who are used to a certain number of touches, to get the touches they are used to getting.

LSU and Iowa face each other in the Outback Bowl in Tampa New Year's Day.  KTBS 3 Sports Tatum Everett is in Tampa and will be covering the Tigers for KTBS 3 news.
