Suspect Arrest in Pair of Robberies

Posted: Updated:

A man sits behind bars tonight in connection with a pair of armed robberies occurring Sunday evening.

Just after 10:30 p.m. on December 29, 2013, Shreveport Police were called to a reported robbery of an individual at an apartment complex located in the 8100 block of Pines Road. Upon officers arrival at the home, contact was made with the 31 year old male victim who advised officers he was returning home from work, when he exited his vehicle and was accosted by two men with coverings over their faces. The victim alleged one of the men was armed with a handgun. According to the victim, one of the bandits robbed him of his cell phone and the keys to his vehicle. Following the robbery the men fled the scene in the victim's 2001 Honda Accord sedan. The victim was not injured during the ordeal.

On December 30, 2013 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers, working off information obtained during the robbery investigation, located the victim's stolen sedan parked at a home located in the 900 block of Whispering Lake Drive in north Shreveport. The car, after sitting idle in the driveway for several minutes, was approached by two men who exited the home. The two men, upon attempting to enter the car, were quickly apprehend by police and taken into custody without incident. The men were transported to police headquarters where interviews with investigators were conducted. Following interviews, information and evidence was gathered linking 22 year old Christopher Dumas to the aforementioned crime. It was further determined the second man detained for questioning had no involvement in the incident. Detectives later earned Dumas was connected to a subsequent armed robbery that occurred on December 29th in the 4900 block of Jewella Avenue during which time a convenience store clerk was robbed at gun point by two suspects fitting similar physical descriptions of the suspects described in the previous robbery. Police arrested and charged Dumas with two counts of armed robbery for his alleged role in the incidents. Dumas was booked into the Shreveport City Jail. The investigation into the robbery remains active as authorities seek to identify the second suspect.
