In ex-Zach'ed science; what Mettenberger will do

Posted: Updated:
Tampa, FL -

Injured LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger will not play in the Outback Bowl New Year's Day, but he will be on the sidelines.  LSU head coach Les Miles joked on Tuesday that he may have to assign a young coach the duties of keeping a close eye on Mettenberger so he won't go in and try to play.  But Mettenberger will be there to provide additional insight for freshman quarterback Anthony Jennings who will be making his first start.

Mettenberger was also voted a team captain for the season and Miles says Mettenberger will be at mid-field for the pre-game coin flip.

In Tuesday's final meeting with the media before the Wednesday kickoff Miles explained out with or without Mettenberger he expects to see two teams "fighting for victory" as only he could explain, which brings a feeling only sport can provide.

LSU and Iowa kickoff at noon New Year's Day.  Tatum Everett will have post-game coverage from Tampa on KTBS 3 News at 6pm and 10pm.
