Football and basketball; difference is McKnight and day

Posted: Updated:
BOSSIER CITY, La -

The Shreveport-Bossier area has many fine, young athletes who are also outstanding young people.  Parkway High School's William McKnight is one of them, this week's Rountree Ford Athlete of the Week.

Football season may be over, but McKnight is not done making plays for the Panthers.  Parkway's state championship football player of the game is now showing his skills on the basketball court.  McKnight's coaches have nothing but positive things to say about the two sport athlete, no matter if he's on the court or the gridiron.

Head basketball coach Michael Guess says McKnight is "a good kid, coachable and a gifted athlete."  McKnight has been working hard and, in his words, is "doing everything I can."

McKnight also has great pride in playing for Parkway and while he is a punishing runner on the football field, his coach likes the physical play on the basketball court.  "He is a physical guy," says Guess.  "That fits right in.. taking a straight line to the goal. That's what we want."

But when asked is McKnight has the same moves on the basketball court as he does on the football field he gave a short, one word answer with a smile, "No."
