Texarkana officer death trial set

Posted: Updated:
Texarkana, Texas -

The accused hit-and-run driver, who fatally injured a Texarkana, Texas police officer, was back in court Thursday.

Justin Sanders, 21, was first indicted last August for aggravated assault on an officer.

His trial has been set for March 24th in Rockwall, Texas.

Sanders allegedly hit Officer William Sprague with a car at Grady T. Wallace park last June.

About 100 people had gathered there after the park closed.

Sprague was the first officer to respond to a disturbance call.

He died of his injuries the day after he was hit.

Prosecutors say they are still waiting for test results on evidence from the scene.

Another pre-trial date has been set for next month in Bowie County.
