Host of ghosts haunt Minden home

Posted: Updated:
MINDEN, La. -

There is small house in Minden on Homer Road that is a little spooky.  Husband and wife Harvey and Jane Cobb have lived there for about seven years.  Each year they get visited by several ghosts.  They say they captured the image of one of the ghost's shadow on a camera phone.

Remember the scene in that paranormal movie where a ghost pulls the wife off the bed by her ankles.  One night, as she slept, Jane played that scene out in real life.  "Something pulled her by the ankles and her feet was hanging off the edge of the bed.  When I sat up it stopped," said Harvey Cobb.

If that doesn't freak you out, they believe a ghost named Bill scratched Harvey's back. Jane took a picture of the scratches on his back soon after it happened. She showed KTBS 3 News the pictures and you can clearly see the scratches on his back.  Harvey says the ghost scratched him because he called the ghost a "wussy" and said it was afraid of God.

At first the couple thought that there were demonic forces in their home until they got a visit from paranormal investigator Mark Ross of Southern Paranormal.

Ross says he believes all of the spirits he came into contact with are not demons but people from the past.  Ross says he was able to make contact with at least three ghosts in the house, but the Cobb's say there are eight spirits.

We'll name a few.  One is a young girl they call Emyla.  They say she likes to play around their clothes closet.  There is a Mr. Geese.  The Cobb's think he lived in the house a long time ago.  A ghost named Juanita who causes the house to smell like bleach and don't forget Bill the scratcher.

Jane and her husband have figured out a system on how to live with the ghosts.  They moved their bed out of the bedroom because that's where most of the activity takes place. They now sleep in the living room.

But there is no avoiding the spirits. So the Cobb's try to stay on good terms with their housemates, being nice and offering a hello to them. Otherwise they get mad.
