Elio Motors Update: CEO says production to start in 2015

Posted: Updated:
GREENWOOD, La. (KTBS) -

Caddo Commissioner Ken Epperson's Annual District 12 Information meeting was held Thursday night at the American Rose Center. Paul Elio, CEO of Elio Motors, was at hand to update citizens and guests about his start-up company, which will occupy about a million and half square feet of the plant.

Elio claims interest in his three-wheeled vehicle is high while his company transitions into manufacturing. He expects production to start on the Elio at the GM plant during the first quarter of 2015.

Only around 800 employees will be hired to produce the vehicle at first. More employees will be as progress is made. If you're looking to work for Elio Motors, the company will not take serious hires until 90 days before production.

Elio says you'll see some activity at the GM plant soon. Some of the Elio Motors' team, along with suppliers, will visit the plant on February 17th to assess space and equipment.
