Posted: Updated:

The Rotary Club of Shreveport is one of the largest rotary clubs in the world. This week, they celebrated a milestone with the 100th reception and celebration.

The organization kicked off a lunch meet and greet on Monday at the LSU-S Noel Memorial Library. The event also featured the club's investment in the local community over the last 100 years with artifacts from the Noel Archives Collection.

"I think our members have been looking forward to this for a couple of years now and it has finally come into fruition and we plan on having a lot of activities" says Downtown Rotary Club President Carol Barnes.

Featured speaker for the event, Carl Chinnery, spoke to the group about polio and its impact on his family. He also touched on how the group plans to eradicate polio worldwide.
