BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTBS) -

A million dollar athletic complex in South Bossier Parish will soon be open.

After several months of a drought-related delay, the Bossier Parish Police Jury voted Wednesday afternoon to begin using the new South Bossier Park on Caplis-Sligo Road.

The 100 acre park has 15 baseball fields and four soccer fields.

Phase 1 has just been completed, thanks to $1 million dollars from the City of Bossier, as well as a land swap and donation.

"Completing phase one means that we have just got the park ready for activities such as practice. It's going to be open to softball, baseball, soccer, football and as of right now, we have some interest in lacrosse," says Bob Brotherton, Police Jury District 1.

The park itself will continue to be a work in progress even after its opening.

Brotherton says Phase 2 will include more fields, putting up regulation back-stops, outfield fences, and walking trails.

An official grand opening is in the works.
