BATON ROUGE, La. (KTBS) -

As national signing day comes to an end, LSU'S 2014 recruitment class has 22 athletes in it. The class is also ranked in all major polls at number 2 in the country, only behind Alabama.

The 22 signees come from five different states; 12 of them from in Louisiana.

Coach Les Miles said in a press conference Wednesday afternoon that each of these new athletes fill a need on the team. He described the 2014 class as "being a mix of speed, size and strength."

"I think they have a very, very talented group," he said. "And a very quality character group. If you look at look at this class like I do, we ought to compete for a national title or several."

Coach Miles also spoke of each of the signees, and Parkway's own Brandon Harris came up second. He's the only signee this year to come from northwest Louisiana, and Miles thinks he's going to fit in well.

He said he really thinks that Harris will challenge defenses vertically down the field and have the ability with his feet to extend plays.
