Shreveport takes the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

 Shreveport, LA – If you are going to be freezin', wouldn't you rather be Freezin' for a Reason? Special Olympics Louisiana will host the 6th Annual Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 8th.

The event will begin on Saturday, February 8th, 2014, 9:00am at The American Legion, Lowe-McFarlane Post #14, 5315 South Lakeshore Drive, Shreveport, LA 71149. Everyone is invited to come and take the plunge for a bare minimum of $50.00!  Costumes are encouraged and the more money you raise the better! The FUNdraiser will end once all participants have taken the plunge!

There will be events for the whole family to participate in, music, food, drinks and much more. Students and children of all ages are encouraged to participate! For up to date information please log onto www.laso.org. On our web site, you will find links to the flyer and registration form. You can also create your own Firstgiving page and have your friends and family sponsor your plunge! We look forward to seeing you take the plunge!

Special Olympics Louisiana (SOLA) is a state-wide organization that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities. SOLA offers year-round programs for 13,500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in all 64 parishes with the help of 14,000 volunteers. We have health, education, leadership, family, training and sports programs for people beginning at age 2 and there is no upper age limit. There is no cost to participate in Special Olympics.
