Texarkana residents react to winter weather

Posted: Updated:
TEXARKANA, Tx. -

Cari Callahan spreads salt outside the Texarkana convenience store where she works. She says foot traffic has increased since snow and sleet started to fall Friday afternoon.

"It's been very busy today," Callahan said. "We've got people stocking up on everything. We don't have bread. We don't have milk because people are scared I guess. We don't see snow very often so they're trying to get prepped just in case."

Signs warns motorists of the danger for ice as they approach overpasses.
A commercial truck didn't quite make the turn onto Highway 549 and had to be towed away.
