Body of a woman found in North Shreveport

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS) -

Shreveport Police are investigating a gruesome discovery in the 2200 block of Aline Avenue in the MLK area.

Police say around two Wednesday afternoon they were informed a passerby had found the body of an African-American woman in the woods off the road. The area where she was found appears to be a dumping site. The remains are badly decomposed and might have been at the location for a few days. However, recent cold weather may have helped preserve some clues.

"So, when you have a case when the body is exposed to the elements, sometimes the cold can act as a preservative in keeping the remains together," Cpl. Marcus Hines said.

The body is set for an autopsy Thursday morning, and police consider the circumstances suspicious.
