Athlete of the Week: Chaston Brooks

Tatum, TX -

The Tatum, Texas high school basketball team has earned its number 2 ranking in the state, cruising to a district title.  With the rotation always changing, they've needing players to step up at crucial times, and they've relied on junior Chaston Brooks, our Athlete of the Week.

He may not be the loudest on the court, but Brooks has become the silent spark-plug for the second-ranked Eagles basketball team.  One reason the 4-sport star may have struggled to find his spot on the team is because Brooks can play every single position and head coach Brett Carr likes to use that to his advantage.

The Eagles really needed Brooks to step up in their final district match-up with the defending state champs and Tatum's biggest rival White Oak and Brooks answered, scoring a game high 20 points.  Carr says Brooks has really come into his own this season and you can expect there to be collegiate interest in the high school junior next year.
