DESOTO PARISH, La. (KTBS) -

A startling discovery in DeSoto Parish, one of Nathaniel Cash's daughters found his body around 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning in his Gloster home on Hines Road.

Police say the 79 year-old man was found at the foot of his bed with his hands bound behind him. But, family members are confused as to why this happened. They say Cash was a widow and has lived alone ever since his wife died about a year ago. He's also retired and he last served on the police jury.

Family members say someone broke into his home through a window and looted through the whole house turning over televisions, ransacking through possessions but as far as they can tell right now, nothing is missing. The family says Cash even had a couple hundred dollars in his wallet which was found by his body.

Police say this is the second incident in as many weeks on this residential street. Cash filed a police report on Feb. 4th saying he woke up in the middle of the night to find someone inside his home; a would-be thief that he chased away.

On Wednesday, DeSoto Parish authorities arrested three people in connection with Cash's death. Authorities say all three suspects confessed to their involvement in the break in. They reportedly told authorities that their motive was robbery believing that Mr. Cash had a large amount of money. One of the suspects reportedly choked Mr. Cash while he was being tied up and later threatened him with a pistol.

Preliminary autopsy reports indicated that the victim died of a heart attack as a result of the physical assault. One of the suspects, Malcolm Hall, reportedly admitted to being involved in the previous reported break in and fleeing when the victim saw him.

The only items taken from the residence was a pistol Mr. Cash had near his bed and a small amount of change. Investigators are reviewing the case and other charges with the District Attorney's Office.

The following are currently being charged with First Degree Murder and Home Invasion:

Malcolm Wayne Hall, 24 of Gloster, Dalduran Jamar Brandon, 25 of Frierson and Martavia D. King, 21 of Gloster.
