GGL: Living the Good Life through Music

Posted: Updated:

As the years add up, a person who wants to live the good life and stay active looks for people of similar interest. And many times, a perfect fit can be found.

Nine people with similar interest who have found each other. So what is that they have in common?

It's the ukulele. They all play the ukulele some have played for years… some are beginners learning as they go.

The group, ranging in age from the 5os to the 70s and mostly retired, call themselves "Ukulele Gumbo."

"It is my passion. And I love every minute of it,"  Lou Osborn said.

"We enjoy playing together we enjoy playing for groups when we go out. It's just like another family really."  Ronnie Collums said.

The members of Ukulele Gumbo play and sing not only for their own enjoyment but they also perform for others .

"When we play we feel the joy that the other people feel . It makes us feel good too," Denny Scheef said.

"It's so much fun to hear the audience respond to our music. They sing along they clap, sometimes they even get up and dance and that just makes us feel great when we see that kind of response from an audience." Rita Rodgers said.
