Lady Hornets stung in state semis

Posted: Updated:
LAKE CHARLES, La. -

In the first girls state semi final to be played on Wednesday the 5th-seed in Class 1A, Arcadia played top-seeded North Central.  It was a hard fought game in which the Lady Hornets of Arcadia did not lead until very late, when De'Anquinette Henderson hit her first three pointer of the game.  That gave Arcadia the lead 56-55 with 2:46 to play.

But North central kept its calm.  Sydney Martin hit a three with 1:14 to play and North Central went on top 60-58.  Martin would later foul out while Arcadia forced a turnover, down 60-58 with :27 left.  But Lerodica Harris missed a pair of free throws and while shooting from the foul line would be an issue for both teams, North Central hangs on winning 61-58.  Arcadia's season ends an impressive 27-6, but one game shy of the state championship.
