Meet the new CEO of University Health

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. -

There's a big leadership change for University Health.

For the first time since the hospital went private, they've chosen a new CEO.

The man for the job is Rod Huebbers.

Hospital board members made the decision Wednesday afternoon and announced it to employees this morning.

For the first five months of University Health's life it was headed by Richard Cascio with the consulting firm Alvarez and Marsal.

In the next few weeks, Cascio will turn the reigns over to Huebbers, who has a history of turning around hospitals.

Huebbers spoke with health reporter Jessica Crandall exclusively over the phone on Thursday.

He said he plans to be a hands-on CEO.

"I build teams. That's what I do. I try to find the absolute best in everybody, bring that out in folks and build those winning teams," said Huebbers.

Huebbers has also worked in San Antonio and Virginia.

As you pack a lunch for today, keep this in mind. If you plan to eat peaches, nectarines, or plums, they may not be safe. There's a major fruit recall due to fears of a foodborne illness that is affecting some major grocery stores.
