HARRISON COUNTY, Tx. -

The body of a missing East Texas woman has been found, and her ex-boyfriend is in custody facing a murder charge.

Family members tell KTBS 3 News the body of Alicia Benefield was found on FM 31 and Elysian Fields Cutoff, which is just outside of Marshall city limits.

They tell us there were signs of strangulation and they say she'd been shot twice.

Jay Webb, with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, says the case is now in the hands of the District Attorney.

25-year-old Rodris Webster, Benefield's ex-boyfriend who had been called a "person of interest", now faces a murder charge.

Authorities say Webster went before a judge Wednesday morning, and his bond was set at $1 million.

The search for Benefield kicked into high gear over the weekend, after family members reported her missing when she didn't show up to work as scheduled on Friday.

Her car was discovered abandoned later Friday at a church less than a mile from her home.

Family members also found Webster's muddied hoodie and Benefield's car keys in a dumpster behind a fast food restuarant in Waskom.

On Monday, 18 investigators from several agencies, including the Shreveport K-9 Search & Rescue Team, combed an area off I-20 near Waskom, along with hundreds of Benefield's family and friends.

That's also the day the Harrison County Sheriff's Department named Webster a "person of interest" in the case, however he wasn't officially considered a suspect until Tuesday.

Family members noticed a foul odor coming from on property adjacent to Webster's home while continuing their search Tuesday, and crews drained the well and discovered the source of the smell to be a buzzard's nest.

At 6 p.m. that same day, Webster was arrested and charged with "unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon", a charge authorities described as related the case of Benefield.

Later Tuesday night, after questioning, Webster led authorities to the location of Benefield's body, which has been sent to Tyler for an autopsy.
