Longview man dies after being hit by car

Just before 8pm Thursday, Officers were dispatched to a an accident with injuries in the 1700 Block of East Marshall Avenue. When officers arrived they were told a Hispanic male, later identified as 54 year-old Antonio Segura Sr. was walking southbound in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling East on East Marshall Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Wendell Deakins, struck Segura in the inside Eastbound lane. Segura was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Segura later died from his injuries. Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in this traffic fatality. No charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the vehicle at this time.
