SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS) -

Two men are recovering from gunshot wounds while another man sits behind bars following a family feud that ended in gunfire in north Shreveport.

Just after 7:00 p.m. on March 22, 2014, Shreveport Police were called to a reported shooting at a home located in the 1100 block of Dunbriar Drive in Shreveport's Cherokee Park subdivision.

Upon the arrival of officers, it was learned two men who were participating in a game of cards at the residence had been shot after a verbal dispute erupted.

During the incident, 29 year old Robert Gladney and 50 year of Roy Davis, both of Shreveport, were allegedly shot by the homeowner, 43 year old Luther Waites Jr.

Following the shooting, both shooting victims were transported to University Health Medical Center for treatment of what was described as non life-threatening injuries.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Detectives along with Crime Scene investigators arrived at the home launching an immediate inquiry into the matter.

Authorities gathered information and evidence that suggested Gladney and Davis were attending a family gathering when the ordeal initiated.

It was alleged at some point during the gathering Waites, who was reportedly participating in a card game with Gladney and Davis, became agitated, retrieved a handgun and began firing.

Waites fled the scene of the crime following the shooting; however he was taken into police custody a few hours later following his surrender to authorities at Shreveport Police headquarters.

Following his arrest, Waites was booked into the Shreveport City Jail where he now faces one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

The investigation into the shooting remains underway.

We've been told by many veterans that they receive quality care at the V.A. hospital in Shreveport. But for some getting an appointment to see their caregivers is the challenge. According to our V.A., they do not have a problem getting patients seen quickly - and the numbers they report echo that conclusion.
