Bob Griffin: Griffin's Good Life Jerry Beach

Posted: Updated:

Back in the 60s when the Bossier strip was known from coast to coast, the duo of Danny and Jerry was one of the strip's top musical attractions.

Danny passed away a few years back but Jerry Beach-who spells the good life m-u-s-i-c music is not only alive and well but still playing.

On Monday nights you can find the veteran musician 72 year old Jerry Beach on stage at Lee's on East Kings. That's where he hosts the Monday night Blues Jam -- doing what he likes to do.

Besides being a guitarist and singer, he's also a songwriter and was nominated for a Grammy.

"So it was a big song. I'm still getting royalties off it, I just got a royalty check just today." he said.

So, back when he was playing, did he ever think that a half century later, at 72, he would still be an icon when it comes to the local music scene?

"I don't think I ever thought about that. But at the same time I'm planning on never quitting playing."

And after all these years, does he enjoy playing as much as he did when played on the Bossier strip?

"I think I probably enjoy it more. This Monday night thing I do It's just a jam session, all the players come and we all jam."

And Jerry not only plays… he shares his talent…giving guitar lessons.

"I didn't think I would like teaching but it turned out I love it. I love all my students," he saids.

72-year-old , Jerry Beach, a man whose version of the good life revolves around his music.
