Many, La. -

Ten people were arrested in Sabine Parish over the weekend, accused of dog fighting.

Saturday, around 11:00 p.m., the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Department along with several deputies from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Departed, executed a raid on a suspected dog-fighting operation on Hicks Drive.

Two pit bulls were reportedly in the pit at the time of the raid. The dogs were taken to the Sabine Animal Shelter. Their condition as well as the condition of other animals on the property are unknown at this time.

According to the Many Police Department's Facebook page, ten people, from as far away as Gibsland, Louisiana, were arrested and two juveniles were also at the scene. Five vehicles were towed and are pending possible seizure according to the Louisiana's Asset Forfeiture Laws.

Police are still looking for more suspects who they say escaped into the woods with dogs.

Those arrested were: 44 year-old Bobby Champion Jr., 40 year-old Brian Isreal, 36 year-old Kerry Kahey, 27 year-old Carl Henry,  21 year-old Christopher Malmay, 25 year-old Kenneth Maxie, 33 year-old Loleta Neal, 29 year-old Quannell Newton, 42 year-old Ronald Payne and 30 year-old Okimo Sims. Each is being charged with one count of dog fighting and aggravated cruelty to animals and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.
