Rick Rowe Somewhere in the Arklatex: Mansfield

Posted: Updated:

Somewhere lies Mansfield Female College...the first college for woman west of the Mississippi.....its also where a famous movie director was born and raised...Josh Logan

And it's our Community Caravan destination.

From the 1850's to 1930 the life of woman of the Mansfield Female College was fun. They often went was the basketball gym...and the auditorium up stairs...where a little boy who lived just down the street...practiced his skills.

His name was Josh Logan and he would leave Mansfield...attend Princeton with some rising stars. Josh would later direct Henry Fonda is a pretty good movie...and spend some time in the South Pacific.

It's the place where the girls walked...and where great music was birthed...a long time ago. Mansfield, a place of history.
