Gumbo Cook-off to Benefit Volunteers for Youth Justice

Posted: Updated:

The quest is on to see who has the best gumbo in Northwest Louisiana and beyond! Volunteers for Youth Justice is hosting its second annual "Battle of the Gumbo Gladiators", a gumbo cook-off on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. Admission is FREE and gumbo samples are $1 each.

Gumbo winners will be selected by local celebrity judges as well as a People's Choice winner, Best Booth and Most Spirited Team. This year we have also added a "Vendors Village" selling a variety of foods, sweets, crafts and arts.

25 teams will be cooking up over 30 pots of gumbo.

All proceeds from "Battle of the Gumbo Gladiators" supports Volunteers for Youth Justice, a non-profit organization providing critical services to abused, neglected and at-risk children in Northwest Louisiana.
