Woman injured after shots fired in parking lot

SHREVEPORT, La -

Police are seeking suspects in a shots fired incident that injured a local woman Saturday morning.

Just after 4:30 a.m. Saturday Shreveport Police were called to the 5300 block of Monkhouse Drive relative to reports gunshots had been fired in a parking lot crowded with people.  When they arrived at the scene, they learned that around 150-200 people were gathered on the parking lot loitering when several gunshots rang out. During the incident at least one person was struck by gunfire.  Police identified 25 year old Monaaye Clark of Shreveport as the sole victim in the shooting after she arrived by private auto at University Health Medical Center suffering a single gunshot wound to the leg.  Clark was treated for her injuries that were considered to be non life-threatening.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives were called to the scene of the crime to investigate.  Police collected spent shell casings from the scene of the shooting which are being processed as evidence.  Authorities additionally learned during their inquiry that an argument between two groups of women reportedly took place on the parking lot moments before the shots rang out.  Authorities are now focusing their efforts on identifying and apprehending those persons involved in the shooting.  Detectives are urging anyone with information regarding this shooting to promptly call Caddo Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
