Dive teams have resumed their search Tuesday morning in efforts of recovering a missing child in Winn Parish.

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, a 3 year-old boy reportedly fell into Spillway Creek Monday morning. Winn Parish Sheriff, Cranford Jordan, says the call came in around 10:30 a.m. The boy and his parents were at Spillway Creek off of US 84, a few miles west of Winnfield.

Jordan says the boy was on a concrete structure along the creek when he slipped and fell into the creek. Dive teams from Natchitoches, along with Wildlife and Fisheries and State Police were on the scene throughout most of the day Monday.

The sheriff says the boy's hat was found on the opposite side of the creek but no other signs of the boy were spotted.

Natchitoches Sheriff Victor Jones Jr., says this is "tragic." "Our thoughts and prayers are with the child and family. As soon as we received the call for assistance from Winn Parish Sheriff Cranford Jordan, we immediately deployed our dive team and resources to Winn Parish to assist."

On Tuesday, Capt. Tony Moran with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office told KTBS 3 News that cadaver dogs on the scene had hit on several spots, but dive teams had not found anything. Winn Parish Sheriff Cranford Jordan says that dive teams resumed the search around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. He says that the water levels in the creek had dropped since yesterday and a current remained making the conditions on the divers difficult.
