SHREVEPORT - BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTBS) -

A Shreveport business takes home the honors after battling it out on a Food Network reality show shot in the Ark-La-Tex.

The Food Court Wars episode featuring Bistro To Go and Southern Traditions, a father-daughter team from Plain Dealing, aired over the weekend.

"The big chains have so many advantages and have so many more resources than the small mom-and-pops do, that it's kind of really awesome when something like this comes along and gives one of us little guys a chance to do something that we might not be able to otherwise," says Bistro To Go owner JB Emery.

It was filmed inside Pierre Bossier Mall in Bossier City back in January.

After several rounds - and some stiff competition - Bistro To Go was crowned the winner, and will open a second store in the mall's food court.

Emery, who credits his culinary skills to watching his grandmother cook, says it was an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and he couldn't be more proud of his staff.

"We take care of our customers, we don't do a lot of advertising, give away a lot of gift certificates. We try to do charity work and advertise by word of mouth. And when somebody comes in, we just try to treat them right and make sure the food tastes good."

Emery's friend, Brandi Lewis, who appeared on the show with him, will co-own their Bossier store, which officially opens Thursday.

Bistro To Go will be awarded free rent for a year in their food court location, and they also have a Shreveport restaurant off Line Avenue.
