BOSSIER CITY, La -

Bossier City police have arrested two Bossier City teenagers for allegedly stealing a purse from a 93-year woman today who was injured as a result.

Kinyon Tirrel Johnson, 17, and a 15-year old male were arrested on purse snatching charges this afternoon in connection with an incident that happened today just after 9 a.m. in the 700 block of Shaver Street.

Detectives say the victim was pushing a shopping cart containing groceries which she had just purchased at nearby food store when the two suspects approached her and took her purse from inside the cart. That caused the woman fall to the pavement since the purse strap was wrapped around her arm. The two suspects then ran from the scene.

The victim walked to a nearby business where an employee called police. Bossier City Fire Department personnel also responded and treated the woman for abrasions and bruises while police officers searched the area for the suspects. During that search officers were able to able to obtain evidence linking Johnson and the 15-year old to the purse snatching. Both were brought to the police department and subsequently arrested.

Johnson was booked into the Bossier City Jail while the 15-year old was taken to the Ware Juvenile Detention Center. Louisiana law prohibits police from releasing the name of the 15-year old since he is a juvenile.
