Demons begin with D; Armstrong Athlete of the Week

Posted: Updated:
NATCHITOCHES, La. -

For the first time ever at Northwestern State's spring game, the Joe Delaney Bowl, the Demons named an offensive lineman, center Austin Douglas as offensive MVP.

But it's hard to forget about the defensive line's performance in the spring game. The Demons defensive MVP, Leroy Armstrong is our KTBS athlete of the week.

It's finally Natchitoches native Leroy Armstrong's time to step up.  The Northwestern State lineman gets the chance to start for the Demons this season and he's taking advantage of the opportunity.

Armstrong was thrilled his efforts were recognized and seemed genuinely surprised.

Head coach Jay Thomas loves the effort Armstrong gives and  defensive tackle Leon Simon loves how Armtrong draws double teams.  That makes it better for players like him.

The defensive line will be one of the Demons strengths, and Armstrong expects to have a big year especially playing with the caliber of talent on this season's line.

The Natchitoches Central grad was honored to be the spring's defensive m-v-p and hopes that will translate into an even better fall.
