Marshall vigil remembers domestic violence victims

It's a crime often committed behind closed doors, but Thursday former victims put domestic abuse out in the open.

"I have to be honest, when you're in the midst of that situation, hope is the last thing on your mind," Amanda Morgan told the crowd gathered in downtown Marshall.

Statistics show one in four American women will experience domestic violence. Amanda Morgan was one of those women, and she says the issue is getting worse.

"We're looking at statistics where we used to have women that were beaten violently every 15 seconds," Morgan said. "Just within the last year, we're down to women being beaten every nine seconds of every day in the US.
