NFL scout has high praise for Ellis; Justin time for draft

Posted: Updated:
RUSTON, La - Former Louisiana Tech defensive tackle Justin Ellis has worked hard to improve his play and done a nice job impressing scouts before the draft.  The Director of Operation for NFL Scouting Services, Dave-Te Thomas, tells KTBS 3 Sports that the way the Patriots have been "hounding" him for reports on Ellis, he should get ready to play in New England.  Thomas sees Ellis ultimately becoming the replacement for Vince Woolfork in the middle of the Patriots defensive line.

Thomas like the improvement Ellis has made using his hands at the line of scrimmage and credits him with developing new moves to improve his play. Ellis was so impressive at the East-West Shrive game he was invited to the Senior Bowl where he continued to make a good impression on NFL scouts.

Thomas also says he would rather have Ellis than the player he calls, "The Pillsbury Dough Boy," Notre Dame nose tackle Louis Nix, who Thomas says has "never seen a Crispy Creme he didn't like."  This is high praise for Ellis, who currently has a 3-4 round grade from the league.
