Wallace family leads Castor softball to success

Castor, LA -

Castor high school is one of a handful of local softball teams still alive in the playoffs. Co-head coaches Bill and Joy-Dee Wallace and their Lady Tigers have engineered a 16 game win streak and they think it's the family atmosphere of the small school squad.

For senior Lori Wallace, Castor softball is all about family. That's because her parents are the co-head coaches of the 3rd ranked Lady Tiger softball team. With Lori behind the plate and her parents at the helm, Castor has posted a 15-3 record with their eyes on a trip to Sulphur.

The Wallace's learned they had a knack for coaching when they took over a brand new Castor junior high team and later becoming the high school head coaches found out they make a great team. Even with graduation around the corner for Lori, the Wallace's say it was a no-brainer to continue coaching the Castor Lady Tigers.

Castor hosts Pitkin Friday at 5:00 for a chance to punch their ticket to the state tournament.

High school football is getting ready to start and it will be a new look for Evangel. The Eagles will be playing up in this year's playoffs to the select side's highest division and they prepared for that with a scrimmage with West Monroe powerhouse Neville.
