Jazz Fest gets imaginative kick from kids' music

Posted: Updated:
On Saturday, a local group called Imagination Movers played 1980s-style music for kids. Sweating through cobalt-blue jumpsuits, the four-man band sang about moms, pizza and macaroni and cheese.

The Movers' touring schedule has conflicted with Jazz Fest the past couple of years, so they've been unable to perform. This year's show was moved to the festival's first weekend to accommodate the band's tour of military bases.

The group has a self-titled show on the Disney Junior channel. One of the Movers, Scott Durbin, says the band plays without pre-recorded tracks. He says they want to show kids how to be creators of music, not just consumers of it.
