LSU disappointed in SEC scheduling vote

Posted: Updated:
Birmingham, AL -

LSU and their head football coach Les Miles have been very clear. They do not think it's fair that the Tigers play perennial high caliber team Florida in a permanent match-up every season. And athletic director Joe Alleva is disappointed after the SEC voted Sunday night to keep those cross-division games beginning in 2016.

Alleva told The Advocate that the leaders of the SEC disregarded the competitive advantage it was awarding some of the schools. While Miles wasn't ready to name names, he does share the same feelings about the issue, and expressed them vehemently at SEC media days last July.

There are 8 cross-division games in all. Some other match-ups include Arkansas and Missouri; Alabama and Tennessee; and Georgia and Auburn.

The SEC is staying with an 8 game conference slate but added a new rule. SEC teams must schedule at least one non-conference game per year with either the PAC 12, Big 12, Big ten, or ACC. This is not a surprise since the new college playoff teams will be determined on strength of schedule.
