Northwood rallies past Breaux Bridge

SHREVEPORT, La - The baseball playoffs continued Friday night and Northwood hosted Breaux Bridge. The Falcons were looking for their first home playoff win since 2005, but they were in trouble early. Northwood trailed 6 runs heading into the bottom of the 4th inning.

"Everybody in the dugout knew that 6 runs down this could be our last game or we can turn it around right now and we can change that," senior Dustin Brown said.

The Falcons gutted out 8 unanswered runs and shut out Breaux Bridge in the final 2 innings to advance to the second round of the playoffs with a 10-8 win. The rally was capped off by Brown's 2 run homer, the first of his career.

"He picked a great time for his first home run of the season. He's been seeing a lot of breaking stuff all year long and it's frustrating at times because he's hit the ball hard but it's just been right at people. Today he got a pitch he could handle and drove it out of the park," head coach Darien Dukes said.

"I hadn't seen a lot of fastball's so when he threw it and it was a fastball, my eyes lit up and I hit it and watched it the whole way," Brown added.

Northwood travels to district foe Benton for some second round action.

Dallas knows it will need a great effort from everyone on the defensive side when the Cowboys host the 49ers on Sunday just to give Tony Romo and the offense a shot to make it a game.
