Overnight shooting sends man to the hospital

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La - A local man is recovering after being shot overnight in west Shreveport.

Just before midnight on May 3, 2014, Shreveport Police were called to the 2700 block of Randolph Street relative to a shooting that reportedly happened there.  Upon the arrival of officers, contact was made with the victim, 20 year old Elijah Gibbs, who was suffering a single gunshot wound to the thigh.  Gibbs was subsequently transported to University Health Center for treatment of injuries that were described as non life-threatening.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene of the shooting launching an investigation.  During their probe, information was gathered that suggested Gibbs was shot while he and a family member were walking home in the 2700 block of Randolph Street when two men started shooting at them.  The suspects, whose identities are unknown at this time, reportedly fled the scene of the shooting on foot.  As authorities seek to identify and apprehend those responsible for the incident, investigators are asking anyone with information about this crime to contact Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
