Willis-Knighton hospitals reveal new innovation center in Bossier City

Posted: Updated:
Willis-Knighton Health System revealed its new and state of the art innovation center to the public Sunday.
The center is located at the old Bossier Medical Center. Now it holds Willis-Knighton's virtual hospital. A real ICU environment complete with a variety of advanced patient simulators, which can have seizures, bleed, sweat, talk and much more. The virtual hospital will be used to train medical students and professionals from around the area. The life-like patients should trigger responses to  help them learn.
"When you implement an emotional element to education, you increase their ability to increase, to retain that information," Joshua Mason, center admin., said.
There are eight patients in all. They and tools to use them cost about half a million dollars. The innovation center also houses a public health care museum.
