Dardenne stops in Shreveport during Tourism Tour

Posted: Updated:

As part of National Tourism Week, Louisiana Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne tours the state.

He stopped in Shreveport Tuesday afternoon to visit the newly renovated Municipal Auditorium.

Dardenne spoke about how both 2012 and 2013 were record breaking years for tourism, bringing more than 23 million people to the state and more than $108 million. He hopes this year will break those records.

We're certainly on course for great things to happen,” he said. “We've had some major events over the course of the past few years, like the Super Bowl for example, that drives a lot of visitors to the state, but this industry is working hard every day to bring people to the state. I hope that 2014 will be even better than 2013.”

Dardenne also stopped in Ruston, Minden and Many Tuesday. The Lt. Governor continues his tour in south Louisiana Wednesday.
