SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS) -

The Volunteers of America held their annual Cherish the Children breakfast, where more than 850 people attended.

The VOA helps a variety of groups in need, from children with homework after school, to veterans who are struggling to get back to the real world, to unwed mothers, to independent living for those with brain injuries.

The breakfast is a way to raise money to offset the loss of federal funds for the VOA programs.
