SMITH COUNTY, Tx. - An East Texas mother is behind bars accused of leaving her 3 year-old child unattended in a car.

It happened just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sam's Wholesale on the SSW Loop 323 in Tyler. A witness, who saw the child in the vehicle found Investigator Cory Hoover with the Smith County District Attorney's Office, in the parking lot and told him about the situation.

Hoover immediately went to the vehicle where the child was still strapped in a car seat and found that the door of the vehicle was unlocked. Hoover got the child out of the vehicle and says the child was very lethargic and ringing wet from sweat.

EMS was called to the scene to transport the child to a local hospital.

Officers found the mother of the child and believe that the child may have been left in the vehicle for about an hour. The mother, identified as Lisa Tang of Whitehouse, Texas, was placed under arrest for Child Endangerment, a 2nd degree felony, and transported to the Smith County Jail.
