Pop Up Shreveport launch party Thursday night

Posted: Updated:
The official launch of the downtown pop up project pops off tonight!

It's the first ever regional event of it's kind. It's an idea --aimed at filling many of the empty spaces in the Red River District. The  businesses will get to use the store fronts for two weeks - rent free--with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to stay  in the area. Officials say not only are they looking to revive the Red River District, but other places across downtown. Liz Swaine, the Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority says the pop ups will continue, "After the 23rd we'll have another pop up in the Central district around September and then during the holiday season we'll have another pop up in the Shreveport Common area, so we'll be popping up all over."

The kick off party starts Thursay, May 8th from 5 until 7 in the Red River District. It's the first-ever regional pop up business project. The first time the red river district has been at 150% capacity. The first time the district offered a variety of dining and entertainment options.
The pop up businesses will operate in the red river district starting Monday, May 12th through the 23rd.
