Over 70 animals seized in Upshur County, Tx

Posted: Updated:
GLADEWATER, Tx. -

(KYTX) - According to Precinct 1 Constable Gene Dolle, 64 dogs, 6 cats, and 1 horse were seized today.

Dolle says he went to serve an eviction notice to a residence on North Point Pleasant Road near Union Grove. Constable Dolle then discovered a massive amount of animals in poor condition. He says the home owners just had too many and didn't have the means to care for them all.

Longview Animal Control, East Mountain Police Department, SPCA of East Texas, and Gladewater Animal Control have been working since 8 am to seize the 71 animals.

The dogs and cats will be evaluated at SPCA's headquarters in McKinney, TX, while the horse will be taken care of by Safe Haven Horse Rescue in Gilmer.

Constable Dolle says no charges have been filed yet, but the situation is still under investigation.
