CHRISTUS seeks to capitalize on Willis-Knighton insurance woes

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. -
Willis-Knighton doctors came within just a week of falling out of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance network.
The health system struggled to hash out a deal after disagreeing over payments.
Meanwhile, CHRISTUS Health capitalized on Willis-Knighton's issues.

CHRISTUS ran a newspaper advertisement welcoming BCBS patients.
"We have received lots of phone calls. In fact, the phone calls are what made us do the ad. There was a significant request for help on what to do to find a physician. This was an opportunity to remind the community of our physician finder resource and to help educate," said the health system in a statement to KTBS.
CHRISTUS has no immediate numbers on how many people switched over to their doctors.

Willis-Knighton is now accepting BCBS patients.
