Caddo Sheriff to hold tax auction, there's still time for property owners

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. -
More than 2,700 properties; that's commercial, residential and land, will be up for grabs soon. Caddo Sheriff's Office will hold its annual tax auction. The auction will start May 13th and last until the 15th. Only those properties with unpaid property taxes will go to the auction block.

There's still time for owners to pay off the debt and save their properties. Detective Bobby Herring, public information officer, says they have until five Monday evening to pay the sheriff what is owed.

"It's kind of late in the game," Herring said. "Do not put it in the mail. To ensure it is received by the sheriff's office, you need to go in person."

Herring says you can pay late taxes at the Caddo Courthouse or online. You can find out if your property will be auctioned by visiting Caddo Sheriff's website. Herring says visit the website if you want to purchase property, as well.

"You can look at the auction and register for the auction there," Herring said. "If your property is on that list, you need to make arrangements to pay your taxes."

The tax auction is strictly online, but computers will be made available at the Caddo Courthouse for those that don't have them. Click here to visit the Caddo Sheriff's Office website.
