NFL scout scratches head over some Cowboys picks

Arlington, TX - With the draft complete, KTBS 3 draft expert, the Director of Operations for NFL Scouting Services, Dave-Te Thomas, takes a look at what the Cowboys did and what they didn't, but could have, owning seven Day Three picks.

"I'm real curious when I look at the Dallas Cowboys draft over here, I'm wondering if Jerry Jones the owner is sitting down right now with Jerry Jones the general manager, Jerry Jones the scouting director, Jerry Jones the personnel director and say, 'What the heck did you on the third day of the draft?' I mean this was a grand opportunity.  They had so many picks over there I thought we were going to move the draft out of Radio City and just move on down to Dallas with it. But it just seems they were very hesitant in the War Room and I can give you one reason why. There was a ballplayer sitting out there that I kept telling people was the best player in the draft and he slid all the way down to the 13th pick and that's Aaron Donald. OK, Zack Martin? Pretty good offensive guard.  I'll bring him in.  Without doing this what do the end up with?  They end up with a kid over here who's probably the second coming of Bart Simpson and I'm talking about Demarcus Lawrence.  Don't get me wrong, the kid's not a bad kid.  He just does stupid things and he constantly does stupid things.  Then you turn right around and what do they do? They come up in the seventh round and they take another defensive lineman there and they take Ken Bishop. Ken Bishop, a bad foot.  Ken Bishop of playing nose guard for four years. Uh, last time I checked, we use a 4-3 defense over at Dallas."

Thomas absolutely loves two of the Cowboys undrafted free agent signings, LSU fullback J.C. Copeland and Missouri wide receiver L'Damian Washington of Shreveport. Thomas is expecting both to not just make the team, but contribute.
