Louisiana tax deadline approaching

Posted: Updated:
The deadline for people to file 2013 Louisiana income tax returns is approaching.

The state Department of Revenue has issued a reminder that Thursday is the last day to file individual income tax returns. Taxpayers who need more time to prepare their 2013 individual returns will have to submit an extension request to avoid penalties for late filing.

Even with a filing extension, payments made after Thursday are subject to interest and penalties for late payment.

Returns can be filed online using the state's free tax filing web application.

That application can be found at www.revenue.louisiana.gov/fileonline .

Extension requests also can be submitted online at www.revenue.louisiana.gov/extensions . People with limited internet access can call 888-829-3071.
