Political drive for I-Bowl could get to red zone Thursday

Posted: Updated:
BATON ROUGE, La - Thursday becomes another important day for the Duck Commander Independence Bowl and the potential for significant sporting growth in our community.  The occupancy bill on hotel and motel rooms in Caddo and Bossier parishes that would provide significant funding to the bowl game "and" the airport and sports commission ,goes before the senate committee on local and municipal affairs Thursday at noon.  The bowl game would love people to email senators on the committee to encourage passing of the measure.  The bowl is looking to move up the selection pecking order and create a kickoff classic game, two things that could become game-changers to our area.

If HB1191 makes it out of the legislative process it will be up for a popular vote of all registered voters in Caddo and Bossier parishes in the November election. The bill has resolutions of support from the Shreveport City Council, Caddo Parish Commission, Bossier City Council and Bossier Parish Police Jury.
